Jonas - Our Special New mamoworld Member

We are more than happy to announce that the mamoworld family has a new, very special member: Jonas is less than two weeks old, has Down's Syndrome (Trisomy 21) and a severe heart defect.

A happy family

Jonas with Andra

The last weeks have been an emotional roller-coaster ride and we are so happy that Jonas is here. He is such a cute boy! He sleeps a lot, but in the rare moments when he opens his eyes and looks at us with his dark, big eyes we are more than happy. We cannot imagine a life without him anymore.

A tough start in life

Jonas

As many children with Down's Syndrome, Jonas has a severe heart defect. In Jonas heart, the cardiac septum is more or less missing. In the Atrium it is missing completely and in the main ventricle only a small part of it exists. Also, he has just one cardiac valve instead of two. Without a surgery he wouldn't survive longer than one or two years, but luckily modern medicine has a lot of experience with such cases. With a surgery done in a hospital that is specialized for such cases, he has a very high chance to survive and to have a more or less normal life afterwards.

If everything works as planned, he will be strong and big enough for this surgery around the end of March. Currently, the only things that Jonas has seen in his life are hospitals, helicopters and ambulances and it looks like it will stay like this for a while. But we are very happy that this will change - maybe he can already be at home for Christmas.

mamoworld Down's Syndrome Special

Jonas and Mathias

From now until the end of this year, we want to donate 50% of the sales of our Name Your Own Price products to a German Down's Syndrome Organisation (Down-Syndrom InfoCenter). We know that there are many people in a similar situation as we are, and they all need support. With the remaining 50% (and with our fixed price products) you support Jonas: Luckily the German health insurance system is very good, but we still have lots of extra costs for traveling - and spending a lot of time in hospitals means less time for work and less income.

We also want to apologize that the response time for support requests has been a little bit longer during the last weeks. We usually reply within 24 hours.

Cheers,
Andra, Mathias and Jonas
